IRON NEST Aiming, Corrections and Spotter Bearings

A usable correction begins with the correct Nest position and reference point. Preserve which spotter supplied each bearing, then change one firing input at a time after impact.

Quick correction rule

Do not start by turning every wheel. Confirm that the original solution was built from the current position and correct reference, then preserve shell, charge count and target while changing one diagnostic input at a time.

Validate the solution before correcting it

  1. Confirm the target and requested effect.
  2. Confirm the current Nest position.
  3. Confirm which observer or reference supplied each bearing and distance.
  4. Confirm actual shell and powder charges.
  5. Confirm bearing, elevation and selected gun as fired.

Classify what the impact tells you

  • Left or right primarily questions direction, reference and traverse entry.
  • Short or long primarily questions measured range, charge count and elevation entry.
  • A very large miss often indicates a stale position, wrong observer, swapped report or mismatched load rather than a tiny fine-adjustment error.
  • No readable observation means the next action should improve reconnaissance, not manufacture a precise correction.

Change one variable

When the tactical state permits a comparable second shot, keep the target and load stable and change the variable supported by the observed error. Recording two simultaneous changes can produce a hit without teaching which change fixed the solution, making the next target just as fragile.

Rebuild instead of correcting after movement

A tactical or emergency move changes the Nest-to-target geometry. A moving target or relocating Phantom Battery does the same. Return to the map, re-establish positions and create a new solution; do not call a new geometry a correction to the old one.

What this guide does not claim

  • No universal firing number for every mission.
  • No permanent observer precision or blast-radius table.
  • No guarantee that a launch-week community formula survives balance patches.
  • No fixed coordinates for procedural objectives.

Verification boundary

What still needs live verification

Official sources establish the measurement-and-gunlaying loop; exact correction values and observer precision remain mission- and build-sensitive.

Official descriptions establish stable scope. Interface paths, balance, values, rewards, schedules, and version-specific behavior must still be checked in the current game build.

Quick answers

IRON NEST Aiming, Corrections and Spotter Bearings FAQ

Does the guide provide exact firing solutions?

No. Mission inputs vary, and the reviewed official sources do not publish a permanent solution table.

What makes a correction useful?

A recorded input, a clearly observed error, and one deliberate change.

Guide notes and sources

Citable answer · Checked

For a reliable IRON NEST correction, first verify the current Nest position and the origin of every spotter bearing. Preserve the original firing inputs, classify the observed miss, then change one relevant variable and record the result before making another correction.

Limitation: Official sources establish the measurement-and-gunlaying loop; exact correction values and observer precision remain mission- and build-sensitive.
